LEONARD (Lenny) KOFF is an Associate of the UCLA Center for Medieval and Renaissance Studies (CMRS) and has degrees from Columbia University (B.A., M.A.) and the University of California, Berkeley (Ph.D.). He received the Distinguished Instructor Award (2009) and the Dean’s Award (2019) from UCLA. Koff developed and taught courses, on campus and online, at UCLA, including English Composition, Introduction of University Discourse, Technology and Human Values, the Literature of Existentialism, and Banned Books, as well as courses in English Literature and in Comparative Literature’s humanities sequence, including Homer and James Joyce.
Koff has lectured in the United States and Europe on such subjects as literature and philosophy, postmodern theory and the premodern text, Cicero, Freud, and Emmanuel Levinas. He has spoken twice on distance learning at Salahaddin University-Erbil for the Ministry of Higher Education, Iraqi Kurdistan. In addition to publishing Chaucer and the Art of Storytelling (University of California Press), Koff is co-editor of two volumes from Brill (Leiden): Mobs: An Interdisciplinary Inquiry and Time: Sense, Space, Structure. Koff has published two books of poems and has several manuscripts he is preparing to publish.
Simon Hall is a lecturer, and tutor at the University of Cambridge, specialising in creative writing, business, and communication skills. He is also an author, with eight novels published, a series of short stories, a play, and even a pantomime.
Before joining Cambridge, he was a BBC News Correspondent for 20 years, covering some of the biggest stories Britain has seen. He also travels the country giving talks at schools, inspiring students about how to get into the best universities and the most prestigious careers.
Sophie Beaumont is an undergraduate student reading Economics and Management at the University of Oxford. Her main interests include Management Strategy and Business Behaviour. She has always had a passion for teaching and helping others, demonstrated by her running of mentoring programmes throughout her school career, and her participation as an ambassador on the University of Oxford’s flagship access scheme, UNIQ.
Sophie has kindly supported students from her previous school to complete successful Oxbridge applications. Outside of studies, Sophie enjoys playing Netball for her college team and volunteering in numerous widening access initiatives for the University.
Tristan Varakuta is a second year undergraduate student studying Economics & Management at New College, Oxford.
Before beginning his studies at Oxford, Tristan worked in the middle office of a corporate bond trading firm for 12 months. Tristan has experience working with young adults as he has worked for the National Citizenship Service as a Team Mentor leading teams of young adults. Tristan also currently tutors young adults in subjects such as Economics and Maths for Lionheart Education.
Matthew Campbell is a first year undergraduate student reading Economics and Management at Brasenose College, Oxford. He has a range of experience supporting young children, through mentoring programs with younger pupils, helping with afterschool care, and volunteering to lead badminton sessions.
Before coming to Oxford he was engaged actively in music several times a week, running the school orchestra for several years and writing music to better engage the students. Matthew has always enjoyed working with young people and aims to continue to help and challenge them.
